Why We Believe!

By Frédéric M. Martin, MUSD Community Engagement Consultant

Something exciting has been brewing in Madera. When you visit our offices and school campuses, you inevitably notice that your unified school district staff, educators and administrators have a refreshingly new spring in their step, as they all work toward a common goal of excellence.

The excitement is real, as was overwhelmingly obvious at the recent We Believe Conference, in early March. Over 250 participants shared their progress, projects and achievements in detailed presentations, forecasts and meaningful interactions with the attendees who filled up the successful conference. As detailed throughout this inaugural edition of the We Believe Newspaper, progress is visible on all fronts: new schools, retrofit buildings, multiple campus infrastructure upgrades, innovative educational programs, standardization of programs to improve and install administrative excellence, participatory access to educational conferences with the common goal to implement best practice throughout the school district’s services. Also noteworthy is the innovation in our sports program with the Unified Team concept already yielding results exceeding our expectations. The shared common strive for excellence, at all levels at the Madera Unified School District, is a truly exciting development, that is already translating into tangible results, such as this year’s best-ever high school graduation rate in the history of Madera Unified School District, which effectively elevates our school district to the top tier in the state of California. We will not stop here: MUSD will become an educational leader in the Central Valley and, as we keep working hard, will soon be recognized as the best school district in the State of California. We Believe we can do it, because we are doing it! The school board joins me in thanking you for your support, for your investment in excellence and for trusting us to raise the bar to, eventually, make Madera Unified School District one of the best K-12 educational institutions in the nation.
