Providing continuous training for all classified staff

By Isabel Barreras, Director of Classified Human Resources and Joanne Stocker, Consultant

Madera Unified School District is proud and excited to host the third annual Classified Professional Development Conference, exclusively for MUSD classified staff. Last year’s conference was 100% virtual. While this format provided a unique opportunity with exponential growth in everyone’s technology skills, we missed the opportunity to collaborate and build friendships with peers across the departments and district. This year we are meeting in person. Covid protocols will be followed for the safety of our staff.

MUSD employs over 1200 classified positions covering administrative services, classified management, financial services, human resources, communications, facilities and maintenance, security services, student and community services, supervisory, transportation, technology, food services, educational support instructional services, warehouse, and print shop. The district recognizes the importance of continuous training opportunities, the growth and professionalism this brings to the safety and education of all students.

The conference will be held at Matilda Torres High School on June 6. The Classified Professional Development Committee, representing most of the departments mentioned above, began planning in the fall. Based on surveys and previous conference evaluations, we have increased the workshop offerings and added a fourth session. Workshops include information on employee benefit programs, health and wellness, human resources, leadership, maximizing skills, personal development, and human behavior in an educational environment. We will have a keynote speaker, lunch, and conclude the day with multiple raffle prizes donated by our vendors, suppliers, local businesses, and community support members.

If you are interested in contributing to or sponsoring this event, please contact Isabel Barreras at 559-675-4500 ext. 271. Classified employees can register for the event through the weekly staff update email or contact the Personnel Commission Department at 559-675-4500 ext. 295.

We Believe in ALL of our team members and look forward to celebrating this year’s conference theme, “Together We Rise”.
