Oracio Rodriguez is the new Madera Unified School District (MUSD) assistant superintendent of school leadership.

As someone who grew up in the Central Valley, Rodriguez’s family experience was similar to that of many in our community.

His parents immigrated from a rural area of Jalisco, Mexico. During spring, summer, and winter break, he and his siblings would work the fields picking crops, pruning vines, and selling sodas to make ends meet.

Though the labor was grueling and humbling, his parents reminded them that they were doing this to have a choice for their future.

Eventually, his parents bought a house in Parkwood in the 1970s, which enabled them to attend Eastin Arcola Elementary School and pursue an education.

Rodriguez earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of California Irvine and a Single Subject Credential in Social Science from California State University, Fresno (Fresno State).

He has been married to Heather Rodriguez, a MHS history teacher, for 15 years, with whom he has three boys.
