By Jesse Carrasco, Chief Academic Officer, Secondary

The Madera Unified School Board recently named Alyson Rocco as Madera Concurrent Middle School Principal. Alyson is native to Madera and a proud graduate of Madera High School. While attending Madera High, she was an active member of Future Farmers of America and is honored to hold her American FFA Degree. After high school, Alyson attended San Diego State University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts degree and teaching credential with an emphasis in communicative disorders. She returned to the valley to begin her career in education opening James S. Fugman Elementary School in 2004.

Alyson taught various grade levels, over the course of ten years, for Clovis Unified. She then earned her Master’s in Education through Fresno State and Administrative Credential. She has served in administration the last five years and brings a kindergarten through twelfth grade experience. In her current role, she oversees academic block, English, choir, drama, forensics and the CTE Education Pathway at the Clovis North Educational Center.

Alyson is excited for her new role and to return to the community that helped shape her into the person she is today. Alyson stated, “I’m excited to partner in building a team that is focused on creating a culture of excellence through industry-based lab schools.

The students and community of Madera deserve nothing less than the best!” She is committed to working collectively to build culture and curriculum to produce students who can think, collaborate, produce, adapt, communicate and contribute. The district motto “We Believe” will be a standard mindset on campus for students, staff and community partners. Alyson shared, “We are excited to support students in becoming college and career ready.”

Alyson is supported by Bobby, her husband of ten years, and daughters Capri and Brielle. They are committed as a family to not only meet, but hopefully exceed, the expectations the community has for this innovative and cutting-edge approach to education. Madera Unified welcomes
Alyson into the We Believe Community.
