Madera TEC. Status Report

Spring has been a busy time of year for the Madera Technical Exploration team. We kicked it off by sending out acceptance letters to over 900 students for the 2020-2021 school year. We are so excited to welcome this group in August! In the meantime, we are planning activities for Orientation Week and focusing on ways to engage students to build a strong foundation of relationships among students and teachers. MadTEC teachers are also continuing to fine-tune project plans and career experiences so they are authentic, meaningful, and have appropriate supports in place for all learners to access the curriculum. In addition to curriculum planning, we are selecting furniture for our collaborative learning environment and making sure everything is of the highest caliber for Madera students. Although COVID-19 has prevented us from doing this work from Torres High School, as was planned, it hasn’t stopped us from continuing to work and prepare for opening day. We are collaborating through Zoom meetings, phone calls, shared documents, and emails daily. Nothing will get in the way of us doing what’s best for our students and community supporters!
