Madera High School Student Signs with FC Odisea Football Academy

First Madera Student Athlete to Play Overseas / Primer estudiante-atleta de Madera en jugar en el extranjero

Madera High soccer player, Elmer Garcia, is ending his senior year with a new beginning. Garcia has recently signed to play and compete professionally overseas for FC Odisea Football Academy located in Spain after he graduates. “I am extremely excited and beyond blessed to announce my decision to further my soccer career at FC Odisea.” Garcia shared that it took a lot of hard work, dedication, and discipline in order for him to achieve this. Playing soccer is a huge part of Garcia’s life, which is why he works towards always trying to get better. “Waking up early, eating right, and working out is something that can be overlooked,” Garcia says. “Even when nobody is watching, you have to put in the work.”
Futbolista de la secundaria Madera High, Elmer Garcia, está terminando su último año con un nuevo comienzo. Garcia firmó recientemente para jugar y competir profesionalmente en el extranjero para la Academia de fútbol de FC Odisea ubicada en España después de graduarse. “Estoy muy emocionado y muy bendecido de anunciar mi decisión de avanzar en mi carrera futbolística en el FC Odisea.” García compartió que le tomó mucho trabajo duro, dedicación y disciplina para lograr esto. Jugar al fútbol es una gran parte de la vida de García, por lo que trabaja para tratar de mejorar siempre. “Despertarse temprano, comer bien y hacer ejercicio es algo que a muchos se les olvida hacer,” dice García. “Incluso cuando nadie está mirando, tienes que trabajar hacia tus metas.”
Head Coach Nic Landeros proudly shares his excitement for his accomplished footballer. “Elmer’s signing is definitely earned and should inspire many students from not just Madera High School, but at all the other high schools here as well, that anything is possible,” Landeros says. “You can achieve your dreams and goals, Elmer has proven that. And from his coach, I will be turning into a fan.”
El entrenador principal Nic Landeros comparte con orgullo su entusiasmo por su futbolista fenomenal. “La firma de Elmer es bien merecida y debería inspirar a muchos estudiantes no solo de la secundaria Madera High, sino también de todas las otras escuelas secundarias aquí, que todo es posible,” dice Landeros. “Puedes alcanzar tus sueños y metas, Elmer lo ha demostrado. Y de su entrenador, me estaré convirtiendo en un fanatico.”
Garcia wants to make it known that he is very proud to be representing the city of Madera overseas with this huge accomplishment. His message for other students who have a similar goal is to “stay dedicated, take the risk, and don’t let anyone else determine your future,” Garcia says. “Give it your all because you can never say that you didn’t try.” Garcia has appreciation towards everyone who has supported him on this journey thus far. “I would like to thank my family, friends, coaches, and the staff at Odisea Academy for this great opportunity, but most importantly God,” Garcia says. “I cannot wait to see what my future holds.”
García quiere que se sepa que está muy orgulloso de representar a la ciudad de Madera en el extranjero con este gran logro. Su mensaje para otros estudiantes que tienen una meta similar es “permanecer dedicados, arriesgarse y no dejar que nadie más determine su futuro,” dice García. “Haz tu mejor esfuerzo para que nunca digas que no lo intentaste.” García le agradece a todos los que lo han apoyado en esta trayectoria. “Me gustaría agradecer a mi familia, amigos, entrenadores y al personal de la Academia Odisea por esta gran oportunidad, pero lo más importante es a Dios,” dice García. “No puedo esperar a ver lo qué me espera en el futuro.”
