James Gambrell is the new Madera Unified School District (MUSD) director of community sports and activities.
James Gambrell es el nuevo director de deportes y actividades comunitarias del Distrito Escolar Unificado de Madera (MUSD).
Gambrell has a degree in Kinesiology with a minor in English and a Master’s in Education. He comes to Madera Unified with 28 years of educational experience, 17 of those years being in athletic administration.
Gambrell es licenciado en Kinesiología con especialización en inglés y tiene un máster en Educación. Llega a Madera Unified con 28 años de experiencia educativa, 17 de ellos en administración deportiva.
He spent seven years as the director of athletics in Central Unified School District and the last 10 years as the learning and athletic director at Buchanan High School.
Pasó siete años como director de atletismo en el Distrito Escolar Unificado Central y los últimos 10 años como director de aprendizaje y atletismo en la Escuela Secundaria Buchanan.
Under Gambrell’s leadership, Buchanan High School reached the pinnacle of high school athletics by being named the California State Athletic School of the Year in 2019 and 2020. No school in California history has ever been named back-to-back state school of the year.

Gambrell has also been a head football coach, head badminton coach, and varsity baseball assistant for many years.
