First Ever Head Coaches Professional Development

THE IMPORTANCE OF a Head Coaching position often goes unnoticed, but the effect head coaches have on our students can’t be measured. The usual process in hiring a head coach is straightforward: a position becomes available and coaches apply. The interview process takes place and the best suited candidate for the position is hired. They are given the keys to the facilities, access to equipment inventory, and are instructed on the process for ordering, scheduling and other basic necessities, and then left on their own to go for it!

This year we are offering our first ever head coaches professional development. We are looking to provide a 4-hour training, complete with motivational speakers and our own Madera Unified experts in the fields of Special Education, Student Services and Psychology.

The overall goal is to take a deeper dive into many important and current areas our coaches need to be aware of, such as laws and regulations that pertain to Special Education, signs of suicidal tendencies and depression, treating homelessness, transgender and many other important areas that wouldn’t normally be covered.

The goal is to provide our head coaches the tools required to properly relay this crucial knowledge on to their staff, from freshman to varsity, so we create an education based athletic experience that can be enjoyed by all. Staff will keep you posted on the outcome!
