Jordan Murphy, Athletic Director at Torres High School
By Jordan Murphy, Athletic Director, Matilda Torres High School
IT IS AN honor and a privilege to be the Athletic Director of Matilda Torres High School. I am blessed to be where I am today and it is due to hard work, dedication, and the support of my family. I was born and raised in Madera and attended Alpha Elementary, Thomas Jefferson Middle School, and Madera High School. Growing up in this town has helped me grow into the person I am today due to the coaches, teachers, and administrators that I came in contact with. They helped motivate me to pursue my dreams and reach those long term goals I had set for myself.
When I graduated from Madera High I continued my education and athletic career at Fresno City College on the track and field team. From there I went on to the University of La Verne where I competed in track and field and received my bachelor’s of science degree in Athletic training. While going to school to be an Athletic Trainer I always thought about being an Athletic Director. When I came back home I continued my education and in 2014 I was named the Athletic Director of Liberty High School. I stayed at Liberty for one year and then became the Athletic Director at Chowchilla High School for the next four and a half years before accepting the Torres High position.
Throughout the years and changing schools, I got married to my wife Sami Murphy and we have four beautiful and amazing children. I am blessed to have a wife that motivates me to be better each and every day. I am excited to be back in Madera and at Matilda Torres High school so I can build something special for each student-athlete that steps on to our campus. I want to make sure that I give back to this community that has given me so much. This community has been with me throughout my entire life and helped me achieve my dreams. Now it is time for me to help the future Toros achieve their goals and dreams.
